It's the middle of winter and people are getting sick. Washing your hands often is one way to stay healthy. For how long? The CDC says:
Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
But how about singing a Christmas hymn to yourself instead? You can turn your thoughts to Jesus throughout the day, add a hymn text to your memory verse by verse, and stay healthy!
One verse of these hymns takes about 20 seconds:
- Angels from the Realms of Glory
- the “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” refrain from Angels We Have Heard on High
- Away in a Manger
- Now Sing We, Now Rejoice
- Joy to the World
You can find the words of most hymns in our book (the Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary) and scans of the pages at Hymnary.org and you can search YouTube to hear a reminder of the tune if you need it.
