The great theme of Christianity is the theology of the cross—God is found in suffering. This theme touches all doctrines of Scripture in that they seem opposite than human reason expects.

But the opposite theme—the theology of glory—is more popular. That’s the reward system by which we live our day to day lives, and many people mistakenly import it into Scripture as well.
